Patient Billing and Payment Expectations

At Audrain Medical Center, we realize that some patients may have concerns about payment for medical treatment received. The trained staff in our Patient Financial Services and Patient Credit Services departments will do everything they can to help you meet your financial obligations to AMC.

Patients With Medicare, Medicaid, or Commercial Insurance
AMC will bill the primary and secondary insurance carriers that you identified when you registered at the hospital. We ask to copy your insurance card each visit to ensure we have your most current information when we bill your insurer. All co-pays are due in full at the time of service. A portion of your deductible and/or co-insurance may be asked for as well. Each month you will receive a statement showing the status of all of your outstanding accounts and any payments or adjustments that were made during the month. If there is a balance due, it will be in the “Personal Responsibility” section. This is the amount that is due from you. You will have three options for payment, which are listed under “Payment Options.” You may choose to receive a 5% discount by paying the balance due within 30 days of the date the account becomes self pay.

Patients Without Any Type of Insurance or With Non-Covered Services
AMC will give a 25% discount to uninsured patients on their balance due and to insured patients for non-covered services. Each month you will receive a statement showing the status of all of your outstanding accounts and any payments or adjustments that were made during the month. If there is a balance due, it will be in the “Personal Responsibility” section. This is the amount that is due from you. You will have three options for payment, which are listed under “Payment Options” below.

Elective Procedures
Non-emergent procedures are scheduled on patients after financial responsibility has been determined by Patient Credit Services. Please call Patient Credit Services for more details at 573-582-6400.

Worker’s Compensation
We will work with your employer to verify that your encounter is work related. However, it is your responsibility to file a Worker’s Compensation claim with your employer and the Division of Worker’s Compensation. Any unathorized treatment may be-come your responsiblity.

Liability/Motor Vehicle Accident
If you provide the necessary liability insurance infor-mation at the time of registration, we will file your claim for you. Some medical insurance policies will not pay for medical claims if they are the responsibility of a liability insurance provider.

Other Bills You May Receive
You may receive additional charges from your physician, radiologist, pathologist, anesthesiologist, surgeon or consulting physician.

Payment Options
1. You may choose to make 12 (twelve) monthly payments in equal installments. The minimum monthly payment is $25.00.

2. You may choose bank financing that is completed in-house and all patients are approved. The minimum monthly payment is $50.00 and the maximum length of the loan is 60 months.

3. You may choose to fill out an application for financial assistance if you are financially unable to pay your bill. Your application will be reviewed and you will be notified of the determination of whether or not you qualify for assistance.

If additional services are provided, they may be paid for in full at the discounted rate or added to your current payment plan. You must contact Patient Credit Services if you choose to have an account added to your current payment plan.
