RADIOGRAPHY AND FLUOROSCOPY

Radiography and Fluoroscopy

Radiography This unit is one of the Radiography and Fluoroscopy units in our department. They can be used for routine procedures such as bone, chest and abdomen x-rays.

However, the primary use of these units is to do more sophisticated procedures such as Upper G.I. (stomach exams), Barium Enemas (colon exams), and Arthrograms (such as exams to identify tendon tears). Fluoroscopy gives us the ability to watch an ongoing image on a television monitor to see what is occurring at each moment.

This fluoroscopy unit has two special features. The first is its ability to computer-process all pictures taken and send the ones that are most helpful to the reading station. The second feature is called pulse fluoro. This allows the radiologist to reduce the radiation exposure to the patient without compromising the quality of the study.
